Homework Express has returned to the Newark Library. It is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-5:30 p.m. There are always high school students available to assist with homework questions. Anyone is welcome to attend (including homeschoolers). This is a drop in program. Students are not required to stay for the full two hours, but are welcome to do so. This is not meant to be a one-on-one tutoring program. Volunteer tutors will assist as many people as possible throughout the two hours.

It is interesting. Would you be able to tell me the grade range of the kids coming in seeking for help? Are there any junior high students as volunteer tutors? Are there any guidelines for being a volunteer tutor? I would appreicate it if you could provide me some more information. Thank you.

Homework Express has kids from all grade levels, K-12, although most are in the K-6 range. Volunteer tutors must have a “B” average and must be able to work with others. I believe the tutors are all high schoolers, although the Homework Express cooridnator may make exceptions for some junior high students. You would need to stop into the library and speak with her directly or speak with the Teen Library Assistant, Kathleen Hannon.
