FREE Tax Preparation is offered by VITA at the Newark Library from the Fremont Resource Center for qualified individuals and families with household income of less than $50,000 annually. Tax returns are prepared by IRS-certified VITA volunteer tax preparers. Bring all your necessary paperwork to Newark Library to begin process, pick up prepared tax forms at Fremont Resource Center the next week. Service is drop-in; no appointment is needed.

WHAT TO BRING:
-Picture ID and original Social Security Cards for all family members (Sorry, no exceptions)
-All forms, W-2 AND 1099’s for all 2011 jobs & income
-Information for all other income (interest, savings, IRA’s, etc)
-Information for all deductions and credits
-Childcare provider information (SSN or EIN & address)
-Name address & phone number of landlord, if applicable
-A copy of last year’s tax return is helpful
-Married couples filing jointly must come together
- For Direct Deposit of tax refund, please bring routing & account numbers for savings and/or checking accounts for split refund service (and a faster refund!)

Will not prepare:
Married filing separately
Schedule E (rental income and loss)
Form 2106 (employee business expenses)
Form 8606 (non-deductible IRA)
Form 8615 (minor’s investment income)
1040NR (non-resident)
Self employment (Schedule C) with expenses over $10,000, depreciation, losses, and office in the home.

Card-making Class

 12-1 p.m. on Friday, February 10

 All adults are invited to join us for this free spring cardmaking workshop. All supplies will be provided for the class. We will make three spring-themed cards (Valentine’s Day, Easter and a general theme – birthday,thank you, etc.) The program will take approximately one hour so please be there at the beginning of the class if you wish to make all three cards. There is no registration for this class – just drop in.

You gotta have heart…miles and miles and miles of heart

On Saturday, February 11th at 3 p.m. we will be getting ready for Valentine’s Day with an “I Love You” heart craft. Younger children will need an adult to help with cutting. No registration is necessary. Free children’s crafts are sponsored by the Newark Library League.
