Join a docent from the Asian Art Museum to learn how Japanese folding screens combine function and beauty to create masterpieces of art. A free pass to the museum’s special exhibition of screens (October 15 – January 16) is available first-come, first-serve at Newark Library.

If you have a child ages 1-4, and you are looking for a fun palce to explore art, Newark Library is the place for you! Once a month we hold a Toddler Art class (usually it is on the third Friday of the month). We explore basic art with kids including finger painting, vegetable printing, watercolor painting, crafts, fingerprint art, and more. Busy Saturday at the library by maryjane16

This Saturday, May 1st will be a very busy day at the Newark Library! We’re hosting a cooking workshop, Cook Like a Pro at 1:30 pm (please register in advance if you are interested in attending). Professional Chef Rachel Sanchez will showcase ideas for food presentation for small groups and each participant will make their own gordita. Food samples will be available for registered participants.  

We also have a Homeschooling workshop for parents who are interested in homeschooling their child(ren). The workshop covers various topics from how to get started and choosing a curriculum to finding support groups and more. The Homeschooling workshop runs from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Please register for this workshop as well.

Stitch and Inch knitting group meets at 12:30 for their bi-weekly session. New participants are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you need help with a knitting project, this is the group to ask! 

Our annual Newark Memorial High School Digital Photography Showcase  is on display until May 18th. Please stop by and admire the students’ photographs and be sure to read the stories attached in this special project, Everyday Heroes. Each student choose his or her everyday hero, photographed the hero and wrote a piece about why they chose that particular person.

Just a quick reminder that our children’s craft is this upcoming Saturday (April 10th) at 11 am. We’ll be making paper pinwheels. Each child will decorate and take home their own pinwheel to enjoy. All supplies will be provided.

Join us tomorrow (February 19th) at 12 pm in the Meeting Room for Toddler Art. Children ages 2-4 are welcome to join us for a fun art project. Tomorrow we will be playing with ink pads and making fingerprint art. Please wear clothing that can get dirty as we often make a mess! (Parents and children should wear clothes that can get dirty).
