Ignatius Hoh returns with another wonderful origami class! He will show us how to make ornaments in time for the holiday. He has five-point or eight-point stars for us to try out. No registration needed, just drop in!

Card Class this weekend

If you are interested in learning how to make several types of greeting cards, this is the class for you! We are offering a free, two-hour class on Saturday, December 4th from 10 am -12 pm. Registration is limited to 20 people so please call or email (mcayers@aclibrary.org – 510.795.2627 ext 15) to reserve a spot. We will make either 4 or 5 cards depending on time. All supplies will be provided. We will focus on making the cards themselves – you can take the original designs home and use them to make as many more variations as you like.

Homework Express will be closed the week of Thanksgiving for the fall break. Homework Express will resume the following week as normal. Homework Express runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Students grades K-12 may drop-in at Homework Express for homework help from one of our teen tutors. Did you know that all of our “free” programs are sponsered (at least in part) by the Newark Library League? Through book sales and donations, the Library League pays for all supplies and food for our craft programs and pays for our performers throughout the year. Family Game Day

Looking for something fun to do as a family on Wednesday, November 24th? Come to the library’s family game day! Family game day will be open from 2-5 pm and is open to everyone! Brings your friends and family (and make some new friends) and play some board games or work on a puzzle.  Drop-in any time between 2 and 5 pm – no registration required!



Magic Hat Show

Join us for a fun-filled day at the library on Saturday, November 20th! Starting off, we have our annual cookie and card decorating program from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Each child/teen will get to decorate two cookies and two cards. One card will be given to a senior at a local rest home. All supplies will be provided for the craft and cookies.

Next, at 2 pm, we will have a children’s program called The Magic Hat! It’s a little bit of magic and a little bit of science and a whole lot of fun!

No registration for either program – please stop by and join us!

Drop-in Computer Help

Are you new to using computers? Do you need assistance with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, setting up emails or using Facebook? We now have two teens available on Thursday afternoons from 4-6 pm that are available to help! They are very friendly and have computers set up so that they can help anyone needing assistance. This is a frop-in program so there is no need to register.
