If you know of a child between pre-school and 4th grade that needs a little extra help with their reading, we have a program for you! The Newark Library’s Reading Buddies program is in its second year and runs June 18th – August 13th. Every Wednesday from 3-5 pm we will have volunteer reading buddies available to assist younger children with their reading, either by reading to their younger bu. Registration is recommended, but not required. To register, contact the Newark Library at (510) 795-2627 or stop by the Information Desk at the Library. This is a free program.

Tomorrow night, Thursday June 12th at 7 p.m. we will hold our first event of our summer program. We will have a family sotrytime in the park next to the Library. Please join us as we share buggy stories, a snack and some time together outdoors. If you are bringing a group of more than 5 people, please let us know so we can plan for enough snacks. Thank you.

The summer reading game is almost here! We will start passing out the gameboards on June 9th and the game itself begins June 16th. We have three reading games this summer: the children’s reading game, the teen reading game and the adult reading game.

Along with the reading games, we have tons of cool events to entertain and inform all throughout the summer:
