We’re kicking off the new year with lots of fun programs for kids. We have our book craft meeting Thursday, January 8th at 6:45 pm (lots of fun – we read part of a chapter book, have some snacks and make a few crafts), Toddler Art on Friday January 16th at 12 pm (lots of fun and messy art for youger children), a winter craft on Saturday January 17th at 2 pm (we’re making bird feeders for our feathered friends), and Lego Club on January 29th at 6:30 pm (everyone needs to bring their own Legos to the meetings).

But wait – there’s more! Newark is having a special program on Saturday January 10th at 2 pm – Christie’s Critters! If you love all kinds of animals, you have to see Christie’s collection. She’ll be bringing a snake, a guinea pig, a rabbit, walking sticks, fire-bellied toads and more! Don’t miss out!toad

As always, our programs are free and none of the above require registration. So drop on in and see what we have in store for you!

Lego Club will start up again in January. For the upcoming year, we will meet the last Thursday of the month from 6:45 – 7:45 pm. I will bring new Lego Club cards which will stay at the library. Each person will still need to bring their own Lego’s to the meetings. We will provide light snacks and a theme for the month. If anyone has any Legos they would like to donate to the library for use at our Lego Club, please contact the library.

If you are 16 or older and interested in scrapbooking, let us know! The Newark Library is planning to hold a few scrapbooking classes for teens and adults sometime in January or February. These classes will require pre-registration to ensure that we have enough supplies for everyone. If you are interested in possibly attending these classes, let us know what you are interested in learning. Is it a certain kind of technique you are interested in, what tools you’d like to know how to use, what materials are archival safe, etc. This will help us ensure that everyone is satisfied with the material presented and then everyone will have a chance to work on their own pages for their albums. Also, please let us know what day and times work best for you so we can try and plan out a timscrapbooklayoute that works for as many people as possible. These classes will be free as always and basic supplies will be provided (cardstock, adhesive, scissors, stickers, etc.)

Please either leave a comment here or e-mail Mary Ayers at mcayers@aclibrary.org for more information or to pre-register.
